I would be very grateful for any information on Enfield Town, Middlesex, England past and present. This will be used for a non profit making church project before redevelopment commences this year.
If you would like a link to your local history website, please email a short description about the website stating the name and aims of your organisation, if any, and the nature of the local history photographs featured on the website. The description will be used for the link to your website. Don't forget to include your website address. It would be useful if you could also classify your website by geographical area or content, for example, by country, town or areas of interest.
The aim is to build a website photograph directory of interest to local historians which will also be of use to all who have an interest in their local area and its development. Photographs would be freely available for research by local communities. Webmasters should ensure that they have the right to publicise their photographs on the internet and are not breaching any copyright. Any links found to be unsuitable would be removed.
Now that PC scanners and digital cameras are more readily available, it seems a good time to start building a collection of local scenes at the beginning of the 21st century. Combined with photos of times gone by which are sometimes in family albums and are often black and white, local historians can enjoy publishing the current photographic local history of their individual areas. Sometimes, relatives have a slide or print collection of local scenes taken when they were younger which could be scanned or copied onto CDs and edited as digital ".jpg" photos. There are many companies offering domain names for sale and some ISPs offer a free website. Use a search engine to find one that suits you. You will also need a FTP utility to upload your files onto the website.
This webpage will be developed using HTML and cascading style sheets once several links are received.
